There are 2 versions out at present. Programmer’s Notepad 1 (PN1) was succeeded by PN2. PN2 is in turn based on Scintilla, a programming platform written in C++, and boasts the multiple document interfaces that PN1 did not have.
It brings with it features such a syntax highlighting for a number of programming languages. To name a few there is C++, CSS, Html, Java and JavaScript, Pascal and Also Perl. There are quite a few not mentioned here. It also brings with it MDI (multiple document interface). Unfortunately PN1 schemes cannot be used with PN2 schemes, but fortunately schemes can be added to either.

There are 2 more functionalities that are worth mentioning. Those are scheme tools and text clips. Scheme tools make it possible to make highly adaptable connection to the compiler or other programs. Text clips are source code clips that can be edited into the document that is being worked on. In this way time and energy can be saved.
